E-commerce Websites (Megento & Zen Cart)
From value minded off-the-shelf shopping carts to large scale custom ecommerce solutions, Digital Intersect has the expertise that will transform your web presence into a true money maker.
Most ecommerce sites feature amateur boiler plate graphics and limited functionality that do little to inspire customers to pull out their credit card and buy. In the end these sites produce marginal returns at best. They are forced to compete for low value consumers with their only competitive advantage, profit eroding ever lower prices. Digital Intersect ecommerce solutions will elevate you beyond the basic ecommerce sites. A Digital Intersect e-commerce solution features a powerful mix of “high gloss” visuals and customer experience enhancing technology proven to transform visitors into paying customers. Add our ability to drive high-value web traffic, and you have a web presence assured to maximize your online sales opportunities.
Magento is an Open Source ecommerce web application launched on March 31, 2008. It was created by Varien, building on components of the Zend Framework.
It comes with features like:
Site Management, Mobile Commerce, Marketing Promotions and Tools, International Support, Search Engine Optimization, Checkout, Shipping, Payment, Order Management, Customer Service, Customer Accounts, Catalog Management, Catalog Browsing, Product Browsing, Analytics and Reporting, Customer Reviews, Cross-Selling, Customer Tags, Compare Products, Wishlists, Google Base Integration, Google Website Optimizer Integration.
Zen Cart is an open source online store management system. It is PHP-based, using a MySQL database and HTML components. Support is provided for several languages and currencies, and it is freely available under the GNU General Public License.
Zen Cart’s default installation provides everything needed to maintain a shopping cart web site, however no warranty is given that the software fulfills its purpose. Products, pricing, shipping, newsletters, sales etc. are managed by the store owner through the administration area. The shopping cart is set up to receive payments from major credit cards and several payment gateway services are also provided.
The following is a list of some of the key features of Zen Cart as stated on their website:
Multiple language support, Multiple customer modes, Unlimited category depth, Multiple sales and discounts, Multiple display modes, XHTML 1.0 compliant template system, Extra pages, Multiple ad banner controller, Multiple shipping options, Multiple payment options, Newsletter manager, Discount coupons, Gift certificates, Featured products, Quantity discounts, phpBB integration through external module
Although Zencart improved the shop management and administration with the template system, still it suffers from the fact that editing core files for customizing is often required (no real modular structure). Therefore, in case of heavy customizing, the software is cumbersome to maintain and update.
