BBW Pllc. hired Digital Intersect to create a content managed website from where they can manage their entire website, manage their articles, newsletter campaigns and add new pages to the website without any assistance from technical experties. Digital Intersect redesigned the organization’s website and integrated open source Wordpress CMS framework with custom designed modules to generate massive support.

BBW now are able to manage the website content and resources themselves with an easy to use editor from the content management system. They are now easily able to manage their newsletter programs from the website as a third party email sending program is already integrated with the website. A well planned strategy was made to create a complex, user-friendly content management system using Wordpress platform. In addition to that custom programs were created to achieve some added functionality with PHP expertise. Digital Intersect have provided the ability to create multi level users to manage the website and different sections. All design components, colour pallets and functionality documents were created and well specified thoroughly in order for design or development to begin. Once fully planned out, with wireframes, the Digital Intersect design team took on the project, creating mock-ups of each page. Those were handed off to our development team, who completed the website in time for them.

You may need help from a programmer in order to customize the template and theme or any other additional features you may need. Wordpress comes with a luxury of thousands of free available plugins which can add additional functionality to your website. The best part is that you can have a website as well as a blog for you using the same Wordpress installation. Wordpress system allows a very flexible navigation system and very easy to operate for an administrator. Templates for WordPress are also very easy to obtain and to implement. Besides that… Google loves WordPress structure.

Although, Wordpress do not provide suitable flexibility for developers to create advanced modules and modifications such as creating a shopping cart. Although there are plugins available which can be used as shopping cart but they are not very advanced.

We highly recommend using the Wordpress as CMS for your website especially if you are looking for an easy to use website management tool for your website. However, we don’t recommend it in case you want an advanced shopping cart or any highly customized system.

Joomla on the other hand is one of the best content management systems for designers, web developers and administrators. That system allows all its users to create great looking websites as it has the workspace for a good level of customization and much more advanced features. There are many developers, who create tools, which rapidly improve the performance of Joomla. Joomla features are constantly improving in the past 3 years and getting popular among developers. However, its user interface is little hard to understand especially for the users who don’t have an idea of web development or CMS environment. Joomla recent version 1.6.x is still not very stable as we have noticed that web developers still using the older version because of its stable structure. If you see Wordpress on the other hand, their updates are always stable and carry more features for the users.

The choice between Wordpress and Joomla really depends on the size and purpose of your website and most importantly on your knowledge of web design and development. In addition, if you compare the simplicity of both those systems, you will notice that working with Wordpress is a lot easier, so there are many beginners, who choose Wordpress system instead of Joomla. So when you take a particular project, you should check the exact requirements and knowledge of your client with website development before you select between these two content management systems.

In conclusion, both platforms work well for managing a website, Wordpress is the best option for small to medium business and Joomla is fantastic for a website that requires multiple user privileges or custom database work.
